Municipal Alcohol Policies (MAPs) and Public Health: An updated roadmap to MAP development

This presentation will include an overview of MAPs, including a current overview of the current municipal alcohol policy landscape in Ontario. Additionally, we will present an overview of PHO’s revised 8-step plan for planning effective MAPs.

Learning objectives:

  1. Have an introductory understanding of alcohol policy
  2. Have an understanding of the current municipal alcohol policy landscape in Ontario

  3. Understand and apply the 8-step plan for municipal alcohol policy development

Speaker: Jason LeMar

Jason LeMar is a health promotion consultant focusing on alcohol policy at Public Health Ontario (PHO). He has had various roles in public health and health care including Infection Prevention and Control at PHO and working at Cancer Care Ontario (CCO). Jason has several years of experience providing technical assistance, training, and consultation support directly to Ontario’s public health units in the area of alcohol policy.
